Why Fostering Saves More Lives

Every dog in foster care opens a spot in our rescue network for another dog in need. Unlike shelter-based rescues, Doggy Dog World Rescue is entirely foster-dependent — we don't have a physical facility. That means our foster families are the rescue.

Fostering also gives each dog something no kennel can: a real home experience. Dogs in foster care learn how to live with people, how to walk on a leash, how to greet visitors calmly. They arrive at adoption day better prepared — which means adoptions are more likely to succeed.

Who Can Foster?

You don't need prior rescue experience to foster. What you do need:

  • A stable living situation (renters must have landlord approval)
  • Time to provide basic care, attention, and structure
  • Willingness to attend vet appointments (all costs covered by the rescue)
  • The ability to bring the dog to meet-and-greets and adoption events
  • A home in the Denver metro area or surrounding Front Range communities

We match dogs to foster families based on your household, experience level, and how much time you have. Whether you have a big backyard in Highlands Ranch or a condo near downtown Denver, there's likely a dog that's a great fit.

What Does Fostering Cost?

Nothing. Doggy Dog World Rescue covers all veterinary costs, food, supplies, and any behavioral support resources. Your investment is time, love, and space in your home.

How Long Is a Foster Commitment?

It varies. Some dogs find their forever home within two weeks. Others take two months. We communicate openly with foster families throughout the process and never pressure anyone to take on more than they can handle.

We also offer respite fostering — short-term care while a regular foster is traveling. This is a great way to try fostering without a longer commitment.

The "Foster Fail" — When You Adopt Your Foster

We love a foster fail. If you fall in love with a dog you're fostering and decide to adopt, that's a success story we celebrate. It happens more often than you'd think.

How to Apply

Fill out a foster application here. Our team reviews applications and schedules an orientation call within a week. Most new fosters are matched with their first dog within 2–4 weeks of approval.
