Adoption or foster applications: Household details, residence type, pet history, employment status, veterinary references, and any other information submitted through our application forms.
Match quiz: Lifestyle preferences, household composition, activity level, and housing type used to match you with compatible dogs.
Communications: Any messages you send us via email or contact forms.

Information Collected Automatically

Usage data: Pages visited, time spent on pages, links clicked, and browser/device type via analytics tools.
Cookies: Session cookies used to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies or sell cookie data.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Process and review adoption and foster applications
Create and manage your account
Communicate with you about your application status, events, and available dogs
Match you with dogs based on your quiz responses
Send transactional emails (application confirmations, stage updates, meet-and-greet confirmations)
Send optional new dog alert emails (you may unsubscribe at any time)
Improve our platform and user experience
Comply with legal obligations

3. Email Communications

When you create an account, we may send you a welcome email series with adoption resources. If we add a new dog that may match your preferences, we may send a new dog alert email. All marketing-style emails include an unsubscribe link. Transactional emails (application updates, password resets) cannot be opted out of while you maintain an active application.

We send email via Resend using the domain foreverhomematch.org. We do not sell your email address to third parties.

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

Foster families: Application information relevant to a specific dog may be shared with that dog's foster parent to facilitate meet-and-greets.
Service providers: We use Supabase (database/auth), Vercel (hosting), and Resend (email) — all subject to their own privacy policies and data processing agreements.
Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or governmental authority.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Application data is retained for up to 3 years to support reference checks and future applications. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing hello@foreverhomematch.org.

6. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit, bcrypt password hashing (via Supabase Auth), and row-level security policies on our database. No system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

7. Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.

8. Your Rights (Colorado Residents)

Under the Colorado Privacy Act (CPA), Colorado residents have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate personal data
Delete your personal data
Opt out of targeted advertising (we do not conduct targeted advertising)
